The Tokyo Symphony Orchestra Impacted By the Great East Japan Earthquake

The Tokyo Symphony Orchestra
The massive earthquake on March 11, 2011, also struck the Tokyo area. Muza Kawasaki Symphony Hall, the home of the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra (TSO) where Mr. Masahiro Aizawa belongs to, suffered tremendous damage, with 80% of the hall's interior rendered usable.

This hall is acclaimed for its acoustics, draws from around the world great orchestras and conductors, such as the Berlin Philharmonic with Sir Simon Rattle and the Vienna Philharmonic with Riccard Muti. But it will take much time before the full rehabilitation.

Muza Kawasaki Symphony Hall -
damaged by the earthquake
As a result, The TSO was forced to cancel about twenty concerts so far, and relocated many of their concerts to either Treatro Giglio or Senzoku Gakuen Maeda Hall.

The TSO is going through difficult time and hoping for donations.

Report for "Sir James Galway Flute Convention & Masterclass" in WEGGIS, SWITZERLAND JULY 24th - AUGUST 1st, 2010

Lady Jeanne, Gareth and Sir James
Our flute specialist in U.K., Gareth McLearnon, has been invited by Sir James Galway to take part in their annual International Flute Masterclass in Weggis, Switzerland.

"This class was the highest standard flute class that I have ever encountered. To give an example, the 1st flute section of the flute choir at the class held the principal flutes of the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra, the New York Metropolitan Opera, the Orchestra of Santa Cecilia, Istanbul Symphony Orchestra - to name only a few.

For Pearl to have a presence at this event was extremely worthwhile - Sir James himself played just about all of the flutes that we had on show, and gave favourable comments about many of them. This in turn led others to follow him to our stand and our entire range of flutes was tried by some of the best flute players on the planet.

Sir James played the whole of Friday morning's warm-up class and first repertoire class on my 14K gold flute (Model: 9841RBEICP) and again, made favourable comments about it both to me and to the class. He then invited me up in front of the whole class to present the PFA-201ES flute that was donated to the class. Sir James publicly expressed his gratitude to Pearl Music Europe and said that this Alto Flute would be used in every flute class from now on."

Congratulations on the 1st prize at the 7th Kobe International Flute Competition!!

Comments from Daniela;
"A few impressions about the 7th Kobe International Flute Competition When I received the invitation for the Kobe International Flute Competition in September 2008, I was really happy and proud to be able to participate at this famous flute competition. Shortly afterwards I checked the other participants on the Internet and when I saw that so many already well-known and successful flutists were going to participate too I was already looking forward to going to Japan. I was really curious to compete with these flutists and to see how far I would get with my playing.
At the competition the circumstances for us were perfect. The competition was really well- organized: the hall was
great, there were excellent juries, there were pianists who really supported us and there were many good competitors. Altogether I really enjoyed every single round and I always had fun while playing. That I finally won the 1st Prize at the competition was of course the highlight of my time in Japan and I am incredibly happy!!!
This victory is for me a big confirmation that the way I chose is the right way and it's also a big motivation for me to continue this way."

Message for Pearl Flute;
I was told that the jury was particularly impressed by my sound and that I was advised to keep my flute! I have been playing my Pearl Flute for about four years and I am still very, very happy and I think that this flute is still perfect for me."
